hello fine people,
we want to use backflushing for some of our materials, but... does this conflict with not allowing negative quantities.

thanks

The process of backflushing materials will not cause the inventory on hand to go negative as backflushing/issue inventory will only issue inventory that is available in the backflushing warehouse. The remaining quantity that is to be issued will be shown as an allocation in Display warehouse inventory by item.
This may mean that the Economic inventory goes negative but not the inventory on hand.
Also the backflushing/Issued Inventory reports will show a shortage quantity for each item against each production order that the process (backflushing/issued inventory) was not able to issue to the respective production order.
Example
Production order 1 raised for item A quantity 100
Item A contains the following materials
AA x 1
AB x 2
AC x 1
The stock of these items (in the backflushing warehouse) is
AA = 150
AB = 150
AC = 100
A production booking takes place of item A for 100 and backflushing is run.
stock of AA is now 50
stock of AB is now 0
Stock of AC is now 0
The backflushing report for production order 1 will show a shortage of 50 against item AB.
Display warehouse inventory by item for item AB will look like :-
on hand = 0
allocated = 50
on order = 0
economic inventory = -50
hope this helps
regards
DLM
