Can anyone direct me to documentation on setting up Kits and using Assembly Orders?

i don't have a system in front of me, but I have done this many times...how far have you gotten?

Have you created your kit item?

I have set up the kit but my question are more centered around using the kits and setting up assembly orders. In the assembly order session "whinh2101s000", you must enter a kit definition and item. The kit definition is of type "kit", and the item is of type "purchased". I am not sure of the programs intention with respect to these items. Why not just a kit or an item? The assembly order will post inventory to the item not the kit.

Also, why does the item have to be of type "purchased"?

Finally, when I set up an assembly order the assembly location must be of type "pick" or "bulk". I complete the assembly order, perform a "direct release" on the order lines, then perform the "assembly ready" function. The "assembly ready" function does not complete because the location is not a receiving location in the warehouse?
