I received from a windows pc (located in the US) the following time stamp: "10/12/2007 12:44:23 PM".

My problem is that I don't understand 12:44:23 PM. I thought it would be enough to add 12 hours to convert that into 0 - 24 hours without AM/PM. But that would result in 24:44:23.

12:44:23 PM is 12:44:23

12:00 AM = 0:00
1:00 AM = 1:00
...
11:00 AM = 11:00
12:00 PM = 12:00
1:00 PM = 13:00
...
11:00 PM = 23:00
