Hi Everybody,

In our company, one of the most asked questions our users asks us is "what is the signification of LN" and offcourse we have no answer.

So i suggest that we "create" :D an acceptable signification for these two letters :)

So feel free to make a proposal and if this point interests many persons we can add a poll to votes for the best alternative.

Some people already suggested it is for "last number". I do not hope so...

Well i think that the proposal of trisulo is the first non ironic one. Fortunately we aren't LX users. how it should be difficult to find a name : )

Hi Friends,

The Baan Support has two products based on two product lines:

ERP LN : discrete industries

ERP LX : process industries

Line BaaN
Line BPCS (called B-PiX)

The 'Discrete Company' is a manufacturer that adds value to a product through a fabrication, assembly, machining, or molding process, that is typically scheduled in economic order quantities or on a lot-for-lot basis.
Discrete manufacturers emphasize the assembly of high quality engineered components or sub-assemblies into more valuable final product configurations, or the physical manipulation of discrete entities.

The 'Process industries' mainly employ manufacturing operations that convert highly variable raw materials into consistent quality finished goods. Emphasis is on continuous or batch mixing, reaction and separation of materials to produce other materials of higher value.
