Hi,
We have Baan on a unix server and we want to print
ASCII files directly on an NT disk. How is this possible ?
By now, we're printing the file on the Unix server and then we do an FTP to use the file on a Windows station.
We have samba installed, for information.
Thanks for your help.

From Unix you can move a file with server.2.client function

See dll ttdllbw.

Use bic_info6.1 -eu ottdllbw in a Unnix prompt to see how are functions used.

Hope this helps.

Well if you have Samba installed and configured then it should not be that hard. Either you mount an NT samba share on your UNIX server or you mount a UNIX samba share on your NT server. With the right permissions you should be able to copy the file directly into the right location.

I'm not sure this will work as I have no machine to try it on but maybe ..... assuming you're using bw.

Configure a windows printer in your PC that saves to a file.
Print your report but preview it.
Change the printer setting to the print-to-file device.

Gee ..... I hope it works !

Sorry for the really late reply on this, had moved offices.
You should be able to use any windows printer and then select the print-to-file option in the same windows printer prompt.

I still don't have a server to test this up to this time, tough.
