Is it possible to install BW version - B40c.101 Backend version - BaanIVc4 to Windows server 2008. We currently run on server 2003. My reason for the inquiry is that, as you know, server 2003 is at end of life for support and we may be moving to oracle within the next 2 years. This would be a stopgap solution.

It is possible. You have to use newer portingset according to support matrix.
