Getting hands on experience and a basic training is always a best option to get started with Tools. Though, you can go through this Thread (http://www.baanboard.com/node/1718) to get the basic functionality and architecture of Baan/LN and Programmer's Manual (http://www.baanboard.com/programmers_manual_baanerp) to get an idea about the Syntax and Semantics.
