One thing I have noticed is that Baan appears to be a male world. There are very few women involved in Baan admin or running.

So ladies, come on up and show yourself to the men of this forum. We are new men and appricate the finer working members of this merry band...

Now, I can't promise there will be no flash photography, or even no flashing at all, but it would be nice to know which members of this team are of the fairer (well, okay cleaner fighting, no maybe not, more looks better in clothes) ***.

So do we have our first lady to stand up and by counted?

Jan Park

Tis indeed a man's world but our numbers are growing!! :)

I am very happy to see female baan admins and consultants joining our board. It brightens the board and our days

Hopefully you will see more of us here in time. :)

Hi Jan,

If you had not told me I would still deem 'Jan Park' to be a man. :) Thanks for correctin that! What are your interest in Baan up in Aberdeen?

Jan Park
21st August 2001, 11:53
Hi Patvdv,

Yes...I get that all the time!! People call expecting to talk to a man and get quite a surprise.

The address is a little misleading. I got involved with Baan as a key user on an implementation in a paper mill in Aberdeen which has now closed down so I find myself working as a Baan business analyst in Hemel Hempstead. (Makes for a long drive to work lol).

patvdv
21st August 2001, 11:58
hehe,

Do you know that Hemel Hempstead would translate to Heaven Hempstead in Dutch? :-) Must be a wonderful place you're working in!

How's Baan business in Scotland these days? I remember from 2 years ago that there were alot of well paid job offerings for Baan consultants but I don't much see the name of Scotland popping anymore when it comes to job postings.

great, I post a subject hoping to find some woman to talk to and pat starts chatting the only one to answer up! Knew I should spend more time on this site....

Kevin the developer.

I new a guy called Kevin who did a lot of development work at that paper mill in Aberdeen - I heard they were using Baan ERP. I'll have to find his e-mail address and let him know about this site.:)

Jan Park
21st August 2001, 16:11
Hi Jason,

Can't say I remember Kevin too well....was he with CR Europe? Still at one point we had so many people doing development work it got hard to keep track! The implementation was 4c4 not ERP.

Pat, can't say that I know too much about jobs in Scotland in general but Aberdeen is mainly SAP so no jobs there!

Chris....you shameless hussy you ;)

patvdv
21st August 2001, 16:12
Ah, not to worry Ravenscross. my conversations never went outside the domain of professional courtesy :D

Jason
21st August 2001, 16:15
oh well - I'll get in touch with Kevin anyway to tell him about the site.

Not sure if it's a man's world but if Kevin remembers you let's say that it's a small world.

patvdv
21st August 2001, 16:20
Baan community IS a small world! I end up working with my old collegues all the time :D

patvdv
21st August 2001, 16:31
Hey Jan,

Sorry to hear about the jobs. I am wondering if I should censor bad words like SAP :)

Jan Park
21st August 2001, 16:35
Hi Jason,

If he was there then he will remember. Infact poor guy probably still has nightmares thinking about it! Most of our development guys required therapy after being with us for more than 1 week.

Jason
21st August 2001, 16:47
I heard! Don't worry I won't repeat any of the stories he told me :D !

Aberdeen is a great place anyway - my bro and his family live there - I needn't mention which ERP software he and his wife work with - but it's not Baan - and you know the oil industry standard! Anyway - I heard those 3 letters are sensored on this board.

Jan Park
21st August 2001, 17:04
LOL Jason I shudder to think of the stories you've been told (most of them are probably true if not worse) I still suffer flashbacks in the middle of the night!

:p

Hey, I resemble that remark... sorry, resent that remark. I know Aberdeen well as well. A ex girlie of mine went to college for an Art course. Wasn't until I went to see her expo, that a portrait I thought has been locked away was used as part of her portfolio... I wouldn't have minded but her fellow students kept recognising me..... Thats as much as I'm telling...

(ah, youth!)

Jan Park
21st August 2001, 17:39
Might that have been Gray's School of Art (RGU)? If so I believe that they selll the work which has been exhibited at the end of the year. You never know, you may be gracing the walls of someone's house even now!

Ah the follies of youth indeed!

Hi,

My name is Julie - and yes, the men definitely outnumber the fairer ***! But that's okay, I enjoy working with men.

This is a great site. I've just begun to explore it.

I'm looking forward to making new friends...

PS Who the hell rated this forum? And why did it only get 2 stars

Jan Park
28th August 2001, 18:26
What language Mr Cross...... get out of bed on the wrong side did we??:)

Ravenscross
28th August 2001, 18:29
Of course I didn't get out of bed the wrong side, there is no wrong side. As long as there is access to the floor, I have no problem which side I get out!

;)

Plus, I'm not really one for sleeping...... :D

Jan Park
28th August 2001, 18:57
LOL....I dread to think what you get up to late at night if your penchant for art is to be believed! Although I suspect late night re runs of Star Treck are in there somewhere.

:D

Ravenscross
28th August 2001, 19:01
Me thinks the lady believes that she knows more than she tells, but behold, the mystic land of Star Trek has no hold on the life of this high living party animal..... I have other hobbies I wish to follow

;) :p

Jan Park

Nah....just an educated guess.

Party animal?????? High living ????? Granted you throw a great pub quiz but I'm not sure that qualifies:D

Just kidding !

Now now m'lady. Thanks for the compliment but I was only the one setting the questions, the 250 people answering the questions made it great.

And as for educated guess, I think I may be able to give you an education you won't ever forget! ;)

Ravenscross
29th August 2001, 12:25
I'll have chicken nuggets and chips and a big whirly icecream please (but only if I get one of those bags with the crayons in!)....

And Mr Darcy? I don't recall you being in my wardrobe to find those period costumes, they are just there for ... urm... a mate I'm looking after them, thats right ... (Note to self, must get better lock on wardrobe, and better look in wardrobe.. Lawrence Llewyn Bowen is not a good fashion role model)

Maybe us admins should setup a private forum for you 2 kids to play in. Let's call it the 'The sandpit' :D

Jan Park
29th August 2001, 12:57
I don't know about that pat, a padded cell might be more appropriate for our moderator friend :)

Ravenscross
29th August 2001, 13:00
That coming from a woman who has snails delivering her email!

What about a padded sandpit! That will go with my ruffled straight jacket with the big lapels... And look, a Ren and Stimpy brooch (..... uh? ..... )

'Tell my why, do we build castle in the sand?'

Jan Park
29th August 2001, 13:06
There's nothing wrong with my snail mail!

Anyway So far so good Julz & Joy have both sood up to be counted so to speak.....any more??

Or has Ravenscross scared them all away? Don't worry girls he's fine as long as he sticks to his medication!

Ravenscross
29th August 2001, 13:09
Medication, medication, thats what you need,

If you wanna be the best, and stand higher than the rest,

Medications what you need...

Its time for something completely different.

I mean, has anyone noticed that sometimes talking to some users is like the arguement sketch...

'Baan isn't working right'
'Yes it is'
'No its not'
'Yes it is'
