what is exactly java where it is used, what platform does it use!!:(

Java is a web based language that is multi-platform. Basically, any Java routine should work on any machine with a java compatible system (ie your browser)

As Chris has said it is a programming language. Straight Java is a product of Sun Micro System,

It's main claim is that it is machine independent and it is very web friendly.
