If the Word doc files cause enarmous wastage of system resources...then if it is not advisable to attach a word document in any of the threads / replies....then from the valid file extensions list, we can remove the 'doc', right ?!?

Currently, under attach files field on this form shows like this:

Valid file extensions: gif jpg png txt zip jpeg doc ppt xls pdf htm html cln c cc bc vim scr ksh sh csh xls sql

What are your thoughts Peter ?

Umm I do not know who Peter is. I am Patrick :D

It is OK to use MS-Word documents for larger, complex documents, not for a single image. There is no point in banning the extension, just use some common sense.

Because of all Word versions using the same .doc extention AND older versions not being capable in understanding newer formatted .doc files it is advisable to use the Rich Text Format (*RTF) instead of *DOC

Good idea! Added RTF to the allowable list of extensions. Also added the OpenOffice extensions .sxw and .sxc
