All you guys are really very helpful. Can any body give the list of all sessions that are required in Finance for opening a new Year. We have manufacturing here, so also tell whether any form of calendaring is also required

In General Ledger / Master Data create your period for the year required. Then go to Periodic Processing and open the periods that you need.

I'm not sure about manufacturing. You probably do need to have your calendar up to date for planning purposes.
