For Baan IV you have to use average purchase price formula for using weighted average method. Cost price run should be done in least interval so that prices are realistic.

As far as usefullness of weigted average method vis a vis LIFO is concern when you use LIFO method and the currecnt market price of raw material is higher your profits will be lesser and vise versa. To eliminate this fluctuation weigted average is desirable.
