While maintaining service estimated other costs in a service order, I am getting the message as "Currency rate not defined between currency and home currency INR" for the rate type as on current date.

This is in ERP LN 6.1 FP5

have you checked currency rate for the above (currency in service order with INR) combination in "Currency rates" session?
