Hi

We want to reduce the number of times users are having to re input data ie. once in excel and again in Baan.

Does anyone have any form of useful documentation on how to import excel files containing financial journals into Baan 5.0c.

If not could someone kindley forward simple instructions to enable this process.

Thanks

Althought this is possible using an ODBC driver and some SQL code, it is not recommended as there is normally a lot more to inputing than the data just being dropped in a table.

Hi Nazeem,

Importing from excel to BaaN is possible only if you create the proper exchange scheme. I had some documents explaining in detail about the data migration.but i have misplaced somewhere. If i get it, i will mail you

Meantime, you can refer to the BaaN online help

Of course, yeah, forgot about Exchange, but then have never really been a fan of it!

Here is the document which has detail info about Data Migration. You will need the help of a BaaN Tools expert to perform this task.

Hi Nizam

Your document talks over migration but does not provide any session information. Do you have any information in rspect of sessoin and steps in Baan.

The document does contains the steps in data migration, but of course not in detail. To have the complete details, see the online help for "BAAN Utilities"

If you are running baan5c servicepack 6, you can install the office integration (software and documents are at the servicepack6 cd).

this integrations provide you the possibility to export baaninfo to excel or word and import/modify records into baan from excel.

This integration will work properly if your information is from one baan table.

For example if you want to change the invoicemethod for several relations, you can import the records from baan into excel, make some changes and import the modified records into baan.
Baan will check in the same way when you enter the information manually. You can also add new records.

Maybe you can use this functionality.
