I just wanted to know that if i need any change in the format say the sales order printing , do i need to make the change in the file format? if the file format is changed does the standard dll take care of the pass1 and pass 2 validation or is it done by the DNC automatically.
Kindly let me know as my team feels that the change in the dll will take a lot of time rather the change in the file format is much easier. I need a quick reply from your end.

Sometimes changing the file format is enough and it requires a change in the dlls. If new fields are added to the file layout, dll should be changed in order to get them processed.
