I am trying to modify a process flow from a DEM flow and I encountered the following error message "Cannot delete; activity used in Project Model" XXX" version "XXXX"

Please advise how to resolve the error message.

That means that in proj.model xxx either a role or a help text is linked directly to the activity and you cannot delete that activity before deleting those components in the proj. model.

Alternatively, you could expire the session

Expiring a session does not solve your DEM problem / error.
You need to correct your DEM data for that.
