I have an MRP item with zero stock. Order method "Lot for Lot", Order policy Anonymous.

When i create a sales order for this item, the sales order line accepts any qty whereas i was expecting the system to give the message "Insufficient Inventory" and then give the various options.

What could be the reason for this?

I have not maintained any MRP sales forecast for this item.

Could it be related to your parameter setting for time phased inventory?

If your parameter for this is yes. Depending on the sales order required date, order lead time of the item, allocations, outstanding purchase orders and production orders within that lead time Baan may or may not signal an inventory shortage. Should the available inventory be positive during the lead time you will get no shortage message.

My parameter setting for Time phased inventory is set at 'No'.
