What is exact use of Phanto items in Baan? I know, it is somewhat imaginary item for which generally inventory is not maintained. But still not clear about this term.

Thanks,
Nammy

Hi Nammy,

To Restrict number of Production Order in ERP, We use the functionality of Phantom. When you make a Production Order and it child item also have Manufacturing nature. then you have option to phantom that child (mfg) item.

all Raw material related to that phantom item to be consumed by its parent item directly and all operation (Routing Operation) also considered with the Main Item. So, Operation & Material cost calculated accurate calculated.

I think your doubt has been cleared on Phantom

Phantom are normally created to structre the Bil of Material. Like a logical assembly in a manufacturing operation. You can understand it better in any APICS books.
