I am trying to convert one item to another using Item transfer transaction (transfer(manual) with transaction type “Item Transfer”).

I got an error message “ Item Transfer not allowed for items with different base units” right after I enter the item code in the ship-to portion.

While I understand the error message, I am just wondering why this is not supported by Baan as I can do the same in purchase order where the item has different base unit for both purchase unit and inventory unit.

Can anyone clarify this ? I am on Baan 5c

Hello,

System will not allow if source and destination items is having different base units.Even if you apply conversion factor,will not allow to transfer inventory to the destination item. Only solution is to adjust the inventory through Adjustment order.

Always inventory unit and Purchase unit in Item Puchase data should be the same.

That item might have conversion factor, thats why even if base units are different system is allowing you to change the unit in Purchase order session.
