Hi,

ATM we use two different item numbers for the same item which sometimes is purchased and sometimes is manufactured (item type 'purchased' and 'manufactured'). However, it seems to be possible to change the item type for a defined period (Item-General/Date-Effective Item Data) so you work with only one item. According to the online-help you have to use the 'Object Data Management' module to use the mixed item type functionality.

We don't use the ODM module nor we know how the Baan standard process exactly works. Thus, it would be interesting to know how other LN users handle the 'make or buy' issue within the ERP system.

Any suggestions/thoughts are appreciated.

You can just use the session tcibd0510m000. This can also be done via the change control functionality in ODM. But if ODM is not implemented then you can just use the mentioned session directly.

Hi Adriaan,

Thanks for the information. So we have to implement ODM first to be able to use the functionality. I guess there is a documentation for the ODM module - we're gonna to check it out then.

Hi All,

I do not think it is required to implement ODM for using this functionality(tcibd0510m000) as rightly pointed out by ARijke.

I think ODM is just an additional functionality which can be optionally used for controlling this process.

Hi,

Yes. It actually works without using ODM.

Thanks for all efforts...

Hi,

I've changed my current Manufactured-Item to Purchase-Item using the session tcibd0510m000.

my question here, if i changed the item-type and the effective 1st July 2018, and i still have open production order after this date.

what is impact of this? this is because after changing the item-type, i'll recalculate the costing. Thus, is there any effect for production orders that is not 'closed'

Appreciate urgent reply on this, Please advise.

thank you,
RittaNaiddu
