Is there a way to block the approval icon the ' big Green Tick' in purchase orders using DEM or Tools authorization. We want to block certain users from approving purchase orders.

You can't do it by authorization.

But you can do it by another way.
I suggest you to copy this session as a customerization session, and in your session, you can modify the session, re-layout field, remove some icon-button and so on. then, use this session in your DEM instead of the standard session.

1)copy standard session to a customerization session, name as b.
2)modify the session of B.
3)Link the B into your DEM, instead of the standard A.

The simpliest way is to personalize via webtop your toolbar and menu. After that, all normal users have no acces to approval button or approval session, even you don't use webtop or worktop
