ERP M&A: Do Infor Users Win or Lose? It Depends

In my February article, ERP Buyer’s Corner: Making 2011 the Year of Success (http://www.pemeco.com/v1000/resources_center/erp-buyers-corner-making-2011-year-erp-success), I (along with many others) predicted that “some of the bigger ERP vendors [would] go acquisition hunting to quickly fill strategic gaps in their product repertoires.” This prediction has come true in spades. Most recently, GC Software Holdings, Inc. – an affiliate of Golden Gate Capital (http://goldengatecap.com/portfolio.shtml) and Infor (http://www.infor.com/) – agreed acquire Lawson (http://www.lawson.com/), another Tier II ERP vendor. GC Software is paying roughly $2billion (U.S.) for Lawson. The intent is to integrate Lawson's ERP systems into the Infor suite of products.</p>
