One of the shortcomings of the editor window is that smilies and other vbcodes are always inserted at the end of the text even when your cursor is placed elsewhere. That might generate some confusion. I usually do not bother using the smilie buttons but rather form the smilie character combinations manually as I go along typing. I hope to see this shortcming fixed in the next vbulletin version.
