Hi all,

Since yesterday Baanboard.com has been phasing in and out of existence because of a combined set of problems. First of all we have some people hitting us with spiders and secondly we seem to experience some problems with the latest version of the httpd server. We are working on the problem and hope to have normal services restored ASAP.

Okay, we now know what really is causing the hickup problems: a memory leak in the HTTPD server. I have moved that site to a backup server for the moment. Access may or may not be a slower than before. I hope we can move the site back asap but no estimates on this yet.

Another twist in the story: not a memory leak in the HTTPD server but rather in the Linux Kernel itself: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=152326. We are waiting for an official kernel update from Redhat.

The kernel problem has been fixed and we are back on our usual server :) If you notice anything unusual then drop me a line.

That's why I still prefer RHEL3 (now on taroon updt. 5) to the 4 :)
